Our Classical Californian this week is Edwin Outwater, the Music Director of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra. He grew up in Southern California, has had a 20-year relationship with the San Francisco Symphony, and was formerly their Resident Conductor. He’ll share a playlist that includes works by Domenico Scarlatti, Louis Spohr, Frederick Delius, as well as a quartet by Shostakovich, the first recording he made with the San Francisco Symphony, and a beautiful art song by his mentor, Michael Tilson Thomas.
