In celebration of our "Classical California at the Movies" week, we'll revisit our hour with Classical Californian Kris Bowers, nominated this year for his score for The Wild Robot. He's written the music for the films Chevalier, Green Book and the show Bridgerton, and has in recent years been producing films, including the Oscar-winning Short Documentary The Last Repair Shop, and the autobiographical A Concerto is a Conversation. He's selected an interesting lineup of music by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Jessie Montgomery, Joseph Bologne (Chevalier de Saint-Georges), Gabriella Smith, and more.
Erich Wolfgang Korngold: Violin Concerto, mvt. 2 - London Symphony Orchestra, André Previn; Gil Shaham, violin
Jason Treuting: Extremes - Sandbox Percussion
Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges: Violin Concerto, Op. 3 No. 1 (Adagio) - Toronto Camerata, Kevin Mallon; Qian Zhou, violin
Gabriella Smith: Carrot Revolution - Aizuri Quartet
Jessie Montgomery: Starburst
Bing & Ruth: And Then It Rained
