Richard Danielpour
Composer Richard Danielpour is our next Classical Californian. He's written commissioned works for Yo-Yo Ma, Jessye Norman, Dawn Upshaw, Gil Shaham, Anthony McGill and many more. He studied composition with Leonard Bernstein, and has taught at the Manhattan School of Music, the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, as well as (since 2017) the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. His selections include memorable writing for the voice by Bach, Mozart, Mahler, and Richard Strauss.
